Metallizing

Spray metallizing can be compared to spray painting. The difference is that instead of paint flowing through a hose and being distributed by the nozzle, it is a metal wire which is melted and sprayed on the surface.
At Duusgaard we use two types of metallizing. Flame spraying and arc spraying. With flame spraying the wire melts through an oxygen and gas flame in front of the nozzle and is then blown against the surface. With arc spraying you let two metal wires pass through two electrodes until they touch each other and short circuit. This melts the metal wires, which then can be distributed with compressed air.
Metallizing is used as an additional corrosion protection of surfaces exposed to particularly rough environmental conditions. The technique however requires a very clean sandblasted surface.

Metallization

Metallized steel gets a strong protective layer that extends the life of the subject considerably.
